When we lose someone, we often move through the practicalities on autopilot — arranging the service, the coffin, the music, the flowers. It’s an emotional time, and few of us stop to think about where those flowers come from, how they’re made, or what happens to them afterwards. Like many people, when my own parents died, I simply asked the funeral director to recommend a florist. I didn’t consider the environmental impact of the flowers I ordered — and most people don’t. But traditional funeral arrangements often rely on imported blooms, which are covered in chemicals, plastic bases and floral foam made from petroleum and formaldehyde. These materials don’t break down and can cause lasting harm to the environment once the service is over.

A Natural, Kind Approach
Our farewell flowers are made differently. Every stem is grown with care here on our flower farm, using sustainable methods that put soil health and biodiversity first. We never use chemicals or pesticides, and we design all our tributes using foam-free techniques. Instead of floral foam, we use natural materials such as moss, twine, blocks made from coconut fibre, or simply no base at all. Each design is fully compostable or reusable — a true return to the earth.

Personal Tributes
We believe farewell flowers should reflect the life and loves of the person they honour. Every tribute is made to be as individual as they were — from wild, garden-style arrangements to natural casket sprays and meadow boxes filled with jam jars of seasonal blooms. Perhaps a farmer’s tribute includes herbs, seed heads and a few vegetables from the land he tended. A grandmother who loved painting might be remembered with an arrangement inspired by her favourite colours. We can also create designs that can be shared after the service — posies or small bouquets for family members to take home — ensuring the flowers continue to bring comfort.
